Strength grows in the moments when you think you can’t go on. But each time, you find there simply isn’t an option; you just do. Whether you’re going through a hardship, heartbreak or a loss, these bumps in the roadmap of your life can’t be avoided.
Life is messy, hard conversations are messy and relationships are messy. Don't forget that you're human. It's okay to have a meltdown or be set back by adversity. Just don't unpack and live there. Cry it out and then refocus on where you need to get to. Use adversity as your motivation to propel you forward.
A word our Palas team loves is ‘querencia’, which describes a place where one feels safe, a place from which one's strength is drawn and where one feels at home; the place where you are your most authentic self. This is where the help of your tribe helps!
These are your loved ones and light bringers who challenge you, break you open, uplift and expand you. They are the ones that help keep your chin up and remind you that a blip in the road is just that, a blip.
We recently came across Talarah’s incredible story on Instagram and it blew us away. The struggles of this last year for her supporting her husband through cancer treatment were so beautifully articulated, and incredibly heart-wrenching that they’ve had to experience such a hardship at such an early stage in their lives together.
Read their beautiful story of strength and resilience:
“Tomorrow marks 1 year since our lives were turned upside down and yet here we are Jye... stronger, happier and healthier than ever before. While we've had our days and struggled immensely, we've remained strong and hopeful and we certainly haven't been alone. We've taken the highs and lows in our stride and most importantly, we've accumulated so many triumphs along the way that it really does make the journey worth it. I can sit here and write about how unfortunate it is that the ordeal we've been through has happened to us and how we just didn't deserve it but when I do, something in my heart reminds me each and every time to be grateful not resentful. Unfortunately life isn't all roses and picket fences; it's unpredictable, confusing and at times cruel but it's not something to hate or despise. Each experience in life brings new lessons and the cards we've been dealt are full of them ... I'm just so glad I've been able to learn them with you. So here's to living a long life with you by my side babe... to celebrating our triumphs however big or small and most importantly... sitting in gratitude no matter what the circumstance; I LOVE YOU ❤️ Thank you to our family, friends and communities for all your love and support - we have not once walked this journey alone and that's something we both will be forever appreciative of ❤️”
Talarah and Jye’s experience is a shining demonstration of how we can grow through what we go through. If you’re needing extra strength right now, remember the direction of your goal through these often unexpected moments of adversity; envision how to get there, and go confidently.
This speaks so true to our charm mantra, “She saw every ending as a new beginning”. Leave the other stuff behind: the obstacles, the guilt, the obligations and the extra fluff to fall by the wayside. Find inspiration from our charms that read, “focus on the good” and “grateful heart”.
